My mind is blown that Marty us back in net again Guess we don't really care about that other guy who you know we gave up a top ten pick to get. Also what happened to Larsson ? and how long might he be out for ?

Look forward to tonight and like you I am very confused as to why Marty is in while Cory sits again. I thought Cory should of played Monday personally and when he didn't assumed he would tonight. Couldn't agree more with Josefson I like his game a lot too even if he never reaches his full potential. At worst he is a reliable two way forward who is a good penalty killer. Doesn't help development playing ever 2-3 weeks either which has pretty much been this kids entire career as well as his unfortunate injury troubles. Overall since PDB has come here I think he has done very little to develop our younger players. This includes Henrique and Larsson who have only marginally improved over the last two years.

I hope Schneider walks. Teach that idiot Deboer a lesson.

Brunner isn't playing because of lack of effort and lack of attention to detail. He fell asleep on the second goal against SJ. He wasn't strong on the puck in the corner against Winnipeg and he often seemed to hold it a hare too long and "throw" the puck towards the net when he had a scoring chance, indicating complete lack of confidence. There's no sense in playing him right now. Let him practice a little bit and get it together.

Effort goes all long way with this coaching staff. Say what you will about Peter Harrold, but the fact that he's more than willing to get smashed in the face in order to try to chip a puck around the boards is, in my opinion, a big reason why he plays every night. He certainly isnt the strongest or most skilled of the bunch

Pdb needs to go he does not get the most of his personnel. I wish we could beg Jacques back.

With both teams struggling offensively, I think any kind of early lead gets the driver's seat and the chance to play a defense-first with opportunistic offense game that fits with either team's strengths right now.

Canes had a mini scoring outburst scoring 3 early in the 2nd period Sunday to build a 3-1 lead and looked incredibly good playing with a rare lead. From the Canes side, I am hoping for similar Wed night in New Jersey but with the up and down season the Canes are having I doubt it will be that easy.

Best of luck tonight! Next 2 games decide #4 spot in Metro with possibility to jump to #3 (and a playoff spot) depending on how Rangers fare.

Go Canes!

Would look good on him. Guy is a meat head. The media in Jersey needs to step up their game and start asking him the questions that the fans actually want answers to. He is going to wait till the tires have completely fallen off Brodeur like the stretch in the first 10 games before he goes back to Corey and by that time it will be far to late. Like why is Zajac on the point for the first minute and a half of our pp while Gelinas who I believe is first on the team in pp points rides the pine till the puck comes out of the offensive zone? How is that trying your best to put the best guys out the to score ? When does Zajac ever score ? hardly ever I would put him out there for the f/a and then second it was won or lost he would be heading straight to the bench for a guy who deserves to be on the pp.

I read your blog pretty fair assessment. I and others where really hoping Schneider would get the net tonight. I just have a feeling this game goes the way the Nashville game did and we win 4-1. Not because I think you guys are bad but is the D group that's been playing relatively inexperienced ? I know you mentioned it being a strong point this season but I think our D is to strong and we exploit guys like Murphy. With Marty in the net again I think it's very possible we lose as well he seems to be losing his hot streak a bit.

Todd, what do you think Josefson's potential is? Even though he's had a couple tough breaks injury-wise (pun intended) he has never produced consistently. He's played every role aside from the top line but never stands out. Even beyond his lack of scoring, is he really that good of a defensive player? To me, he produces no offense, can't win faceoffs, and gets pushed around by seemingly everyone on the ice. I don't see how the organization is to blame, in fact I'd argue they've given him too much of a leash already.

In all honesty we probably lose 4-1 ! slump busters to the rescue ! we score our lone goal on a dump in that takes a crazy bounce with 6 minutes left in the third period.

I never understood the hate for Harrold. Today's NHL is about speed and those who don't have it (Volchenkov and Salvador) get exploited. Harrold isn't flashy but he's probably the best skating d-man the Devils have.

Pretty surprised that Schneider didn't get the nod tonight. I'd be pretty steamed if I were #35 right now.

I know that Marty has been hot lately, but Schneider was outstanding against LA and is thanked by sitting out for the next three games? Love Marty, but Schneider needs more playing time. I think if this keeps up we're going to have a very difficult time trying to convince him to re-sign with the team after next season.

That aside, I'll be at the game and am looking forward to it. Let's get those two points!

Following a decent weekend, the Canes need to get the road monkey off their back. Nothing against Devils who are on par with Canes, but they offer a better chance than recent gauntlet of Bos, Det and StL.

I usually don't try to predict individual game outcomes, but most likely is a grinding, low-scoring game that goes to overtime (where it becomes a crap shoot) and ends 2-1 or 3-2.

It sucks but hockey just isn't main stream in America still. Not being on ESPN has to be the dumbest thing the NHL does. It's tough to get in the national spotlight when your not ever on the biggest sports network. Instead they are on obscure sports channels like NBC sports and almost never on the main nbc network.

Awesome. Bernier plays as the #2 RW yet again. That's totally awesome. NJ better hope Carolina can't score more than 3 goals or NJ loses this game. Do you NJ fans like this style of hockey?

Harold (frank)ing sucks and wish Volch was back so he could sit. The guy is horrendous. Brunner and Teddy are great skaters it doesn't take away the fact they are as useful as a mite.

Bernier's ? Yea I like it. He might not be that second line player but he isn't out of place filling in occasionally. He does show flashes of why he was taken in the first round. Guy has hockey sense and knows where he needs to be and plays hard. He isn't a passenger for the most part and will stick up for team mates in scrums. he is likely a 40 point player at best but to me he fills in any spot he gets put. Also the lines to start the game rarely stick the entire game. Pete is constantly changing them and what not. I am more upset about Schneider not playing at this point.

I honestly haven't worried about that at all until this week. To not get either the jets or sharks game is a joke but now this one too? Like come on Marty hasn't been that good and i love him too but Cory shouldn't be sitting for a week.

He really is the only guy to deserve the chance of skating alongside Elias and Henrique. Ryder has consistantly failed and ruined offense and the rest of the team is barely noticable besides Carter.

He's a good skater, but the speed of the game at this level is a little too fast for him. His decision making is usually a bit delayed and can often mess up the timing of a transition in the neutral zone or a rotation in the offensive zone.

I think a group of Larrson, Gelinas, Merril and Greene is going in the right direction for the rest of the year. Let the other 2 spots fall where they may when everyone is healthy.

Should be Volch and Zid. Volchenkov really picked up his game before he got hurt and was playing well. Zid is Zid he won't sit just have to accept it.
